His parents hope to find a cure for his blindness. Nothing helps. But they keep trying. This doctor talks to them about school. Doctor: I am sorry to give you bad news. Andrea is not going to get better. It is time to start thinking about school. Mrs. Bocelli: What do you mean? Doctor: Andrea should go to a school for the blind. Mrs. Bocelli: But he can still see a bit. Doctor: He can see now. But he may become blind in his other eye. We don’t know what will happen. He needs to be ready for the future.

And my back, and shoulder—I twisted them. Medic: Try to relax. Let us take care of you. Narrator 1: The cut in Oksana’s leg is stitched. She’s given painkillers for her other injuries. Narrator 2: Then it’s time to skate her final program. As she waits to take the ice, her friend Victor talks to her. Oksana Baiul: I don’t know if I can do this. Victor Petrenko: You can do it, Oksana. Many times I have skated through pain. Now you must. You are stronger than your pain. And this is your moment. Narrator 1: Oksana smiles at him.
